BioArt with Live Bioluminescent Dinoflagellates – unicellular organisms
Live Cultures: Live cultures grown in my studio (ongoing)
Images: Digital Paintings (not photographs) (© 2015-2017)
Electronics: Bio sensors (WIP ongoing)
Live bio-cultures of Bioluminescent Algae that I grow in my studio provide source material and inspiration for current works in varied forms and format – many still being explored. These “biopets” have their own Circadian Rhythm and thus the name of this series. The digital paintings of the bioluminescent organisms (below) are not photographs (though some contain photographic elements that I photographed: California Giant Green Anemone, Moss Beach, CA and volcanic lava flows of Kilauea, HI). The digital images are hand drawn on the computer visually based on color, properties, and the cellular structure of the live cultures of bioluminescent dinoflagellates grown in my studio. Multi format works from the Circadian Rhythm Series have been shown and exhibited in and around the Bay Area, California.
