Immersive Total Solar Eclipse Project - Work in Progress
There was a total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. I was in Eastern Idaho near the center line in the path of totality.
I captured video of this eclipse in 4K, 360º and Virtual Reality (VR) to create immersive eclipse environments.
Close up video of the eclipsing sun was captured using an equiatorial mount. A custom rig combining 360º and VR equipment was also used.
This immersive eclipse environment project will create a large scale fulldome planetarium style projection and more intimate virtual reality.
An outreach component will bring an immerisive eclipse experience to underserved communities who might not otherwise have
opportunity to experience this natural event.
